DAD AND I 1969

Dad and I

dadandmeseptember19921.jpg

My Wedding Day

The song that is play was sung at his funeral.
"Over on the Otherside by Don Conososcenti"

This is what I read  for my dad at his funeral.

I was trying to figure out what I could say about my dad and how to put it

this is what I came up with

What is a bond between a father and his daughter?

That is what dad and I had

We had such a special relationship that no one could ever break.

In his eyes I could do no wrong

I was and still am his little girl.

He was there for me whenever I needed him to be.
Times that I needed to crawl, swim, talk, laugh, cry or just get the loving hug.

We had such great times together, going on roller coaster that turned upside down and

in circles and hearing dad yelling all over the park.

He would go on any ride

 just to keep me happy.

He never liked make-up or my new nails, but he told me when I turned 16 years old he would take me to get my ears pierced and he did just that.

Dad was always busy and on the go, he was always ready to take a trip

somewhere.

We had such great times as a family, going on vacations and watching dad row a boat in circles, rescuing the dog from  under the dock, sleeping in the car for

not behaving at Aunt Jeans and than having a lovely breakfast the next

 morning.

Dinner times were special when we would sit around the table and talk even if

there were times that dad left.

Listening to dad play music and sing, even making up his own words.

We had such great Christmas and the perfect egg and bacon breakfast ever.

Some day I will get the bacon right dad.

We also had fun with dad like doing April fools jokes on him and he would fall for it. Even trying to kill a plastic bug.

He was a very good bug killer with the real

ones too.

He would believe anything Jeff said even If no one did come to dinner and the

phone never did ring.

Even over his yelling and grumpiness he loved us and would do anything for us, never bothered me when he was yelling I would just say dad its ok I could

 handle dad.

He always had a smile on his face and no matter where he went always met

someone he knew.

I can remember on my wedding day we were in the limo

driving down Weber Street and dad rolled down the window and stuck his head out yelling at  Pat Murphy and than proceeded to talk with him on a red light.

Dad loved his family, friends, people, classic cars and talking with everyone is

what he did best.

Even would have taken friends or other family members and make them his

 own.

He loved all children and they loved him and he was so happy the day he

became a Papa to Ryan and Allison.

Ryan told me that his favourite memory of his Papa is when they went to the

mall on the bus just the 2 of them and when they went to the car show

downtown.

Allison told me that her favourite memory of Papa is when they watched movies together and the sleepovers.

They love their Papa and miss him very much.

Dad will live in my heart and the memories will live forever.

My children

will grow up knowing, remembering and learn more about their Papa and the

love that everyone felt for him and what he felt for each one of us in this room.

Daddy I will remember your kindness, wonderful heart and the way that you

loved me.

Youre the best father a daughter could ever have.

Goodbye love you, miss you and see you someday over on the other side.

I am sending an angel ahead of you to guard you along the way....

Dear Kathy, That is such a beautiful thing you have done for you Dad.
That Photo of you and your Dad in 1969 really makes your heart skip a beat.
I have this for you

In Loving Memory of Garfield Landry

1944 - 2003

You were a very strong and kind man

In our hearts we knew you were true

You had this sense of humor

That made us laugh when we felt blue

You always had the right answers

You knew just what to do

You're a loving and giving person

We're so honored that we knew you

Now you have gone and left us

We don't know what to do

Our hearts have all been torn

We're feeling quite sad and blue

We'll remember your sense 0f humor

And what you'd say and do

But we're going to miss you a whole lot

And we thank God for giving us you

I hope you don't mind Kathy and I hope you like it

Love Sam

What makes a Dad?

What Makes a Dad?

God took the strength of a mountain,
The majesty of a tree,
The warmth of a summer sun,
The calm of a quiet sea,
The generous soul of nature,
The comforting arm of night,
The wisdom of the ages,
The power of the eagles flight,
The joy of a morning in spring,
The faith of a mustard seed,
The patience of eternity,
The depth of a family need,

Then God combined these qualities,
And then there was nothing more to add,
He knew His masterpeice was complete,
And so, He called it- - Dad.

DADDY'S LITTLE GIRL

You're the end of the rainbow,
My pot of gold.
You're Daddy's little girl
To have and hold.
A precious gem is what you are.
You're Mommy's bright and shining star.
You're the spirit of Christmas,
My star on the tree.
You're the Easter Bunny
To Mommy and me.
You're sugar, you're spice,
You're everything nice.
And you're Daddy's little girl.
